Insurance Information
Switchback Counseling Services & Insurance
We are considered an out-of-network provider with most insurance plans. Insurance can sometimes lower the total cost of services, however it can also dictate critical aspects of treatment-such as what your treatment looks like, how long you can be in therapy for, and how often you can have sessions. It is important for our providers to be able to maintain your privacy and have flexibility in the therapy process. Insurance companies require a diagnosis for treatment which then goes into your medical record. Although diagnoses can sometimes be beneficial to individuals, by not using insurance we are able to avoid having to label individuals as “disordered”.
Insurance can be complicated, so it is important to review the specific details of your individual plan. We encourage you to know what your benefits are so you feel empowered to seek services and not feel afraid of what it will cost. We value transparency at Switchback Counseling Services and do not want you to have any surprises when it comes to the cost of your services. If you are unsure of what your plan’s benefits are, please reach out to our billing department (billing@switchbackcounselingservices.com) so we can try to help clarify your specific coverage for our services.
Do you accept any insurance?
Accessibility is an important factor for individuals seeking services. We are in-network providers with some insurance carriers (varies by therapist). Please reach out (billing@switchbackcounselingservices.com) for more information about regarding your specific insurance plan and coverage.
Do I need to contact my insurance company?
As a service to our clients who prefer to use their insurance benefits (in/out-of-network), we are happy to reach out to your insurance company to determine your plan’s coverage with our providers. Then, we can inform you what services (if any) will be covered by your insurance, and what your out-of-pocket cost will be. If your therapist is in-network, we will file your insurance claims for you. If your therapist is out-of-network, we can provide you with a monthly statement so you can seek reimbursement from your insurance company.
What are some helpful questions to ask when I call my insurance company?
In-network:
What are my in-network behavioral health benefits?
What will be the cost of each session?
Do I have a deductible? If so, are behavioral health services applied to it? How much do I have left on my deductible?
Are telehealth services covered by my insurance?
Out-of-network:
Do I have out-of-network behavioral health benefits?
Do I have an out-of-network deductible? If so, are behavioral health services applied to it? How much do I have left on my deductible?
What is my out-of-network reimbursement rate for each session?
Are there limitations based upon the length of session or how many sessions are covered in a calendar year?
In order to file for reimbursement, what documentation does my therapist need to provide me?
